“Mommy, what do you REALLY want Santa to bring you for Christmas?”
CJ sits up and look at me with an expression of great seriousness.
“Hmm… well… I guess I don’t really know,” I say. “I’ll have to think about that.”
“Maybe a new house?” CJ asks.
“No, I like our house.” I say.
“Me too.” CJ pauses. “But maybe a clean house. I know! Maybe Santa could clean our house!”
I bust into great peals of laughter even while feeling the weight of my inferiority.
There’s no way around it; when your six year old wishes Santa would give him a clean house, you KNOW you’ve failed as a housekeeper.

I’d love for Santa to clean my house too. And how sweet of CJ to think of you!

I would simply die lol. I can see my 7 year old saying this though.

Well see now, THAT is a child who loves his mommy! He sees his mommy is sooo exhausted from all the hard work she does, and selflessly asks Santa to help YOU and not him. (anyway, this is the interpretation I give you to use. Turn this from a negative on yourself to a positive of your child. It makes you look good in the end! lol)
MY kids on the other hand gave me a catalog of circled toys. The only toy not circled? Some obscure hybrid pet toy, and I think that was a mistake. Sigh.

Hmmm, maybe santa will bring ME a clean house for Christmas too!?
Gotta love kids ;)

I think that’s a great idea. My hubby and I are not exchanging gifts this year, due to a monetary downturn (we’re poor as church mice!). I could suggest we offer each other our “services”.
He could clean the house for me.
But he’d probably want sex in return. Ew.

Oh, I am so glad someone led me to your site. LOVE your attitude toward parenting and your honesty about the futility of clean houses. Keep writing!

My little guy asked for socks. Socks! From Santa because he never has matching, mated socks in the morning before school….because they’ve been sitting in a laundry basket for months waiting to be mated. When in doubt, we just go out and buy more. Pathetic, I know. :)

Can Santa bring me a clean house, too? That does include the dishes, right? I guess I missed it for this Christmas and I’ll have to go do those dishes myself… :)
