CJ: So mom, did you buy any easter candy when you were at Target?
Me: Nope. You’ll be getting all the easter candy on Sunday from…
CJ: The Easter Man!!
Me: The Easter Man?! Who is the Easter Man?
CJ: You know… the man who dresses up like a bunny and brings you stuff.

I hide my face, which has contorted into an expression of abject horror. Easter Man? Clearly I’m failing in my motherly duty to perpetuate fantastical myths at the cost of all reason.
Me: Oh NO CJ, the easter bunny is NOT a man in a bunny costume. The easter bunny is a real bunny.
CJ is shocked.
CJ: A real bunny? Like… a big one?
Me: No, it’s a cute little white bunny. It hops around and brings kids treats.
CJ: But… but how does it CARRY them?
Me: Well, it’s magic.
CJ: Wow. A real bunny. (he pauses) You know mom, magic is real.
And just like that I’m back on my A-game.

Freaky. I’d be checking out who’s hanging around his playground. Ask him if there’s a Candy Man and an I Have Spongebob in My Car Man, too.

LOL…yeah the Easter bunny is a tough one to explain. Also on Twitter someone was debating male/female and they decided the Easter bunny was female because it lays eggs…WAAAH?????
So confused. To add to the mix we may also have the Easter Bunny AND Tooth Fairy arrive in the same week. I’ve got to make sure my game is ON.

LOL! Yeah, the Easter man is totally scary. We saw him at Walmart. I was like, “Whoa. That’s a derranged looking bunny.” Then I saw the bunny walking around in the back of the store with its head tucked under its arm! The Easter man was a woman! (Thank goodness my son isn’t even a year old or his bunny fantasy would have been ruined in that encounter.)

You know how there are certain comics that you just have to share with someone from the Sunday funnies. I just had to share this with hubby, we both had a good laugh. The whole Easter Man would have kept me awake from nightmares for weeks when I was his age.

I’m so glad my kids aren’t into the whole Easter Bunny thing. We do Santa and the Tooth Fairy but for some reason, never the Easter Bunny. And they could care less. They just hound me and the husband for some candy.
That is a truly frightening picture…

I have half a mind to tell my daughter that the Easter Bunny is really an Easter Man! I mean, he can still do magic, even if he’s a person, right? It just makes so much more sense…

LOL! Hilarious. Way to cover. My 6 year old cousin was interrogating us last night about the bunny. She found her mom’s list of who was bringing what and found “eggs for hiding” under Aunt Laurie. “Why is Aunt Laurie bringing the eggs?” Because we recycle them for the Easter Bunny – Aunt Laurie brings them back every year so Bunny can fill and hide. “But how does she get them to the bunny?” and “When?” Too smart for her own good I say!!! Saw your blog linked in the sidebar of Scribble Ink Cafe and as a fellow Seattle-ite, had to pop over and say hi!

Love this post! Wouldn’t it be great if we could just use “it’s magic” to explain things forever? How do babies get in there…magic! lol

Easter man is a pretty wise thing to say for a lil guy. he’s been to the mall…he knows what’s up! But glad to hear he’s got magic back, because magic is awesome.

I wondered if my niece noticed that the Easter bunny (this year) had pink gloves on and sneakers. She is pretty attentive, but my guess is she is willing to overlook that stuff just to continue to believe.
