Impatience is my MIDDLE name
January 5, 2009 – 10:56 pmMeet my little sister.
My little sister who, it just so happens, is pregnant. (And totally, unreasonably, ridiculously cute. Isn’t it annoying?)
But back to the pregnant. At this very moment, sis is very very VERY pregnant.
In fact, her baby was due LAST MONDAY. (that’s over a week ago, FYI).
The weird thing is, mom and I are totally freaking out wIth a capital AAARRRGGGHHHH!!! while my strangely calm and cute kid sister says things like, “the baby will come when he’s ready,” or, “I’m not worried.” She’s all zen while I run around like a chicken with its head cut off.
It’s totally annoying.
And it makes me wonder… when did SHE get all grown up and mature?
And how is it that I missed that boat?
And what’s with all the CUTENESS?
It’s all I can do to keep from calling her every five minutes shouting IS THE BABY COMING YET? ARE YOU HAVING CONTRACTIONS AND DO YOU THINK TODAY IS THE DAY and can you show me how to do my makeup like that?
I have to sit on my hands and hide my phone but even these desperate measures don’t work so I call my mom and she shouts into the phone, IS SHE HAVING THE BABY AND ARE THERE CONTRACTIONS?!
Mom and I are cut from the same cloth, it would appear.
She calls me tonight and says — deadly serious– “I had to tell your father that he had better get himself ready to go. Because I will NOT WAIT AROUND when that baby is coming. He WILL get left behind.”
And I don’t know if HE knows but I know that she means it.
“I JUST WANT THE BABY TO BE HEEEEERE!” I howl at my sister, who is sitting serenely on the couch sipping tea. ”I feel like calling you ALL THE TIME!”
“You can call me,” she says… then pauses and adds, “Just don’t ask if I’m in labor.”
Hmph. Clearly she doesn’t understand the reason for my alleged calls.
And so I wait.
And wait.
And WAIT.
It’s killing me.

My mother in law is the same way. She is the reason I quit answering the phone the last month of my pregnancy. But I went a week past due and I was begging for that little guy to get the hell out too.

Well, I may not be quite as anxious, but I keep checking here just in case you post something if your mom is too “busy” to e-mail. The picture is amazing. She is all baby! And always CUTE.

Wow, she is really pregnant! She does look very pretty and calm in that picture though. I totally understand your excitement and I will be the same way when/if my little sister ever gets pregnant. Hmmm…seems we are in the same boat with that little sister growing up maturity thing. Mine seems older than me sometimes, LOL.

Okay, when I was a week and a half past my due date, my sister was calling and emailing every single day (sometimes more than once a day) and it drove me batty (much as I love her). However, I have no illusions that I will be different now that SHE is pregnant. I can’t wait for her to have her baby and join me in the ranks of motherhood!! I don’t blame you one bit :)

Oh my - she IS about the cutest thing ever!! And yes - she is absolutely beautiful. Is the pregnancy glow or if she’s always that beautiful? Because if you say ALWAYS, I might have to break something! LOL! Congrats to your family.

I hate to add fuel to your fire, but all three of my babies were more than a week late. Seems none of them wanted to leave and all had to be induced. None were less than 9 pounds and two were more than 10.

She’s far too happy looking for someone THAT pregnant! Says the already-grouchy woman who is only 4.5 months pregnant :) I’m completely jealous of her cuteness.

Oh my gosh, she is ADORABLE indeed! She is so lucky to have her family around so eager for her to have the baby; I’m about 6 weeks from my due date and my family lives over 800 miles away. When I call to tell my mom that I’m in labour, she’s hopping in her car and driving out here, but it’ll take her a heck of a lot longer to get to me than it’ll take you to get to your sister, and I’m sure she’ll love every second of your support.
Can’t wait to hear when the new arrival joins your family!

She is certainly very pregnant. And incredibly cute! She always has been that! And, I’m so sorry, but you are certainly like your mother…. it happens to the best of us :) My first was 10 days late and I was ready 2 weeks early! Then I decided they’re easier to take care of before they’re born…. Good luck to all of you!

OMG. She’s HUGE. lol. No doubt ready to pop! But she’s all belly, bless her heart. I bet her back is killing her. She IS beautiful and wow…that belly is just … big. But SHE isn’t. Make sense?

Good luck on your niece or nephew!
I was a week late with my first one and somewhere there is a picture of me trying to touch my fingers around the front of my belly and I wasn’t able to. He weighed in at a little over 9 pounds. People were wondering why there was a 3 month old baby in with the newborns and he was the youngest.

Holy Cow! I don’t know if it’s just the angle or what but that picture almost doesn’t look real her stomach is so big! Poor little sis, that really can’t be comfortable even if she’s all zen about it!

She’s pregnant? Huh, I couldn’t tell. LOL!!!
Dang, she is frickin huge! lol. In a good way, not like a all over fat way, but a good all baby way. Wish I looked like that (not now for God’s sake….lol, when I was prego.) I was fat all over - pregnant.

Holy smokes, that’s one pregnant belly! And yes, absolutely adorable! I didn’t look nearly that adorable when I was one week past due. I went 14 days past due and it SHOWED, lol. Here’s to hoping you have a little neice or nephew to hold VERY soon.

aww.. she is cute and what a belly! I was like that… all “zen” for everyone else.. but when it was just me and the belly, I would knock.. hey.. you know.. any time now, it would be ok.
Not long to go now, certainly!
My oldest daughter is expecting in April. Every once in a while I get totally emotional about it.. my baby, having a baby.. my first grandbaby. ugh! I don’t even want to think about what sort of basket case I’ll be come time. Maybe I’ll give you a shout, lol!
