Hives, ninjas and dog bites, OH MY

June 22, 2008 – 10:32 pm

I had a longer (and wittier) post all planned out in my head but it’ll have to wait.

See, I didn’t expect my knee to come solidly into contact with the large and powerful teeth of a snarling dog while I was peacefully ordering my tamale at the Farmer’s Market this morning.  (He was aiming his teeth at another dog and my knee sort of got in the way.)

Now before you get really worried, I should tell you that my knee survived this brutal attack relatively unharmed, although there is a big blue bruise.  My jeans (thank you! Jeans!) kept the incisors from piercing through my flesh.

So that was exciting.

I also didn’t expect to spend the evening covered HEAD TO TOE in hives.  Big scratchy puffy red inflamed angry HIVES.

You just don’t plan these things.

So for now my more interesting post will have to wait while I scratch and itch and nurse my injured knee.

I’d now like to give a quick shout-out to

1) Blue jeans. Thanks for the dog-bite-protection.  You rock!

2) Benadryl. WHERE would I be without you?! (A bloody shredded mess of scratching, that’s where)

Here’s to a FRESH START tomorrow (without all the drunken kung-fu warriors, dog attacks and hives, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!)

What the heck? You have much to be grateful for. A four year old boy bit me on the thigh the week before my wedding and I later discovered I was bleeding. I told my husband to be that the doctor had recommended the tetanus shot because I was getting married to HIM, not because of the human bite. Just say NO to tetanus shots.

    Get better!

Oh my goodness….was it the bite or the tamale that caused the hives…or the stress?

    Hope you’re feeling better!

Oh and yes, Benedryl is awesome stuff! Especially if I have several hours where I can do nothing but sleep.

I hope you are feeling better today. Hives are dead sexy this time of year, also can be passed off as chicken pox if you would like to keep “Mud” away from the house. Did you also make sure to get checked for Rabies…you know us Seattle hypochondriacs want to be sure that our Bananas is okay for the next night out!

Wow, see what happens when you don’t forward the email warning you of bad luck if you don’t send it on to 10 friends? When will you learn?

    Yikes!

Well, I’m glad you survived the move to wordpress (I like the new site!), the dog, the hives, and the stick-guy.

Nice hives. I’m assuming it wasn’t the dog-bruise that gave you hives. What was it?

I am very allergy prone and love my allergy meds too. How did people LIVE before they had good drugs, huh?

Hubby got “bit” by our dog last week… though he didn’t have anything shielding his hand - and he got a nasty cut that of course, got infected. He’s no Michael Jackson, so he wasn’t wearing gloves… Good thing you had on jeans!

Adding insult to injury… hives? Holy Benadryl batman.

I had hives recently, too! They’re weird, aren’t they!?! Benadryl helped me. That and leaving town.

Did the hives come from the dog, or the tamale?
