Random displays of affection

I am lying with CJ in the minutes before he drops off into sleep. He snuggles close, pushing his face to my face so that his large eyes peer into mine.

Ever-so-tenderly he lifts his mouth, teeth bared, and makes a move as if to bite my nose.

“Hey!” I shout, jerking away, “What are you doing?”

He sighs, “Mo-om, I just want to bite your nose.”

“No!” I respond, “You’re NOT biting my nose. Now stop this nonsense and go to sleep.”

“But mom, I just want to bite it a little,” he says, very seriously.

I hold my ground. “No. Not even a little.”

“I’ll just bite it really gently. Like this.” He demonstrates a gentle nip on the air, but I remain unconvinced.

“CJ, you’re not biting my nose and that’s final.”

“Pleeeease?”

“No!”

He heaves a big sigh. “Fine.” I can tell he’s thinking, mom’s being unreasonable again.

As he snuggles down into his blankets, I stifle a snort of laughter.

You know that you’re loved when your child wants to eat you.

  1. Yes, I’d say you are very loved! LOL

  2. Awww, that is sweet, you should have let him just take a little nibble. Hehehe. I kid.

Both of my children did that as babies (6 months), I think they were shocked the first time I told them not to, but they had teeth by then dammit. I don’t like teeth on the nose.

    Affection!

  3. That’s precious!

I’ve actually let me daughter bite my nose, and it was not the gentle little nip I expected, lol.

  4. we do “nose nibbles” (no teeth!), but lately she is interested in blowing into my mouth?? my nose?? wha??

  5. Haven’t you ever just needed a little bit of a nose or a toe. I get it. He lurves you.

  16. I just love it. Lincoln isn’t talking but he tries to bite my nose ALL the time and he laughs afterwards. What is it with the biting? This story is adorable – and it’s obvious your boy loves you dearly.

  17. That’s adorable – with my littlest, it’s heads and eyeballs.

“Mom, can I eat your head?”
    “Can I eat my eyeball?”
“Who wants to eat my head?”
    “You’re an eyeball-head”

I’ve actualy declared those bad words at my house…

Zander and i always play a game where we pretend to snack on each other. the other day he pretended to take a bite of my arm. i asked him how it tasted, and he said “mmm…tastes like pizza!”. ;-)

  19. That just makes my heart melt. Those are the kinds of things I love to write down so I can remember them always. -Rachel
