Here’s my tip of the month…
But I don’t want to shower! (A product that keeps you from having to)
As I get older and busier and tireder I find myself without time or energy to wash my hair.
Plus there’s all those articles about how it’s better if you DON’T wash your hair every day. Something about natural oils or something or other.
The problem that I’ve always had is the oil factor. Skip a day (or two) of hair washing and the old head starts to look like a Shell station. Only I don’t get to charge $3.60 a gallon.
So what’s a girl to do?
Then I discovered dry shampoo. Such an innovative problem-solving notion, I’m sorry that I didn’t think of it first!
There are several varieties, but the one I like the most is Oscar Blandi pronto.
It’s a powdery substance that you squirt into you hairline, and then rub vigorously. And, miraculously, the oiliness disappears and your hair has texture! (in a good way)
But honestly I think I like it the most because it smells like froot loops.
Now I want to hear YOUR tips & tricks! Write your own Hot Mamas Know post on your blog, then come back and add a link to it here using the fields below. (get code for the graphic and more details on entering this event here)
IMPORTANT! Don’t type your name in the box where it says “name.” Instead, type a short summary of your post. (I did the first one as an example lest you be confused). And it should go without saying but links that do not go directly to a Hot Mamas Know post on your blog will be deleted, quickly and with feeling. There, you’ve been warned.

I’ve never heard of dry shampoo, but I’d like to try it!

I’m so going to be buying this. Where do you find it–is it at Walmart/Target?

I’ve always wondered about this stuff. I’m always trying to strike the right balance between washing my hair too much, and not often enough.

I skip shampoo every other day, and just rinse and condition the ends. I always worried about being able to see flecks of dry shampoo.

In a pinch you can actually do this with baby powder too.

I have heard that this works and never tried it. I will now! I’m all over washing and blowing out the least number of times in a week I can get away with.

I wouldn’t have even considered this until you mentioned the Froot Loops.

Thanks for the tip! I’d have to try another scent, though, otherwise my boys would try to eat my hair.

I’ve been patting my part with powder for years! I’d rather use dry shampoo, though, than my expensive Clinique compact. I think I’ll be giving it a try.
Thanks for the tip!!

I’ll have to look for this. My hair is typically dry and overwashing is a problem. Thanks for the 411.

I am very excited to try this product out! I always used baby powder to hide the oil look – but it made such a mess!

Forget the kids trying to eat my hair because of the fruit loops smell – I’d try to eat my hair! Dieting is tough enough without smelling like forbidden food.
Growing up my cousins used to use cornstarch. Maybe they were just teasing me to see if their “little” cousin would follow suit?

Darn cool!

Does this work for all hair colors? I’ve heard of the baby powder trick, but if you’re not blonde, that’ll make you look a little gray.
I’ve got dark Reddish Brown hair, so if it can work with all hair colors, I’m in!

I need to try this. My hair is so thick. I hate washing it every day.
