CJ and I are having an argument about brushing CJ’s teeth. I’m for, he’s against.
In a fit of anger, he storms out of the room, “Mommy, I’m MEAN AT YOU!”
A few minutes later he walks into the kitchen, a funny look on his face. “Mommy, when I make this sound, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,” he emits a high-pitched squeal, “when I make THAT sound it means I’m not mean at you any more.”
“Oh, ok,” I say.
“eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee“
He gives me a brilliant smile.
And then I have an idea. “CJ,” I say, “When I make THIS sound, BEEEEEEEP,” that means you have to brush your teeth.”
CJ’s eyes light up.
“BEEEEEEEEP“
And he walks into the bathroom to let me brush his teeth.
Just another small miracle.

I love that. Isn’t it awesome when we finally out-think our toddlers? For me it was NOT a daily occurrence. ;)

That’s great because that brilliant smile would be no more if it wasn’t for teeth brushing, right!? Haha. Great idea.

I may have to try something like that, but first I have to stop my daughter deliberately hiding her toothbrush. It’s an ongoing battle!

I love that CJ does that. Son does that too. Usually he says, “Mama, when I say this –oooo la la— that means…” Ah, so very French. I’m so glad other kids have this crazy system too. I have to hand it to you, though, it never occurred to me to capitalize on that by using it to get him to do things. I will have to try that next time.

You’re so lucky he’s not mean at you anymore. Seriously. My kids are so mean at me right now it’s not even funny. Maybe he could teach Laylee the sound.

You’re totally rocking the preschooler logic. That is so awesome that you came up with a toothbrushing alarm. Ha!

OK, you are my guru.
I have 2 little boys who refuse to brush their teeth. I beg, drag, plead… nothing is successful.
Love what you thought of!
Will be trying that tonight!
