Soggy skies leading to ANOTHER IDEA!

Winter in Seattle is full of days like today. Days where the cloud cover hangs low and thick and rain threatens and taunts us with intermittent spitting and dribbling…

CJ calls it soggy.

Soggy seems to me to be an apt description of this day. Of this month. Of my spirits.

It’s hard to keep from feeling soggy on days like these. I yawn and mope and generally feel down in the dumps and grumpy.

HARUMPH! I grumble at the world in general.

I am oh-so-very tired of worrying about kindergarten.

I am oh-so-very tired of picking up my house… of dishes and laundry and dust bunnies in every corner…

I am oh-so-very tired of trying to eat right.

I am oh-so-very tired of the creaking and rumbling in my joints that make me feel like I must be 50 years older than I actually am.

HARUMPH!

I sit at my computer and look at my blog. It’s been days since I posted, but I can’t think of ANYTHING to write. All creativity and pep has vanished from my being like the near-forgotten sun hiding from the gloomy skies.

Depressed yet? I know I am.

Week after week after WEEK of sogginess is getting me down.

Clearly I need help.

I need a laughter infusion.

I need some ROSE COLORED lenses to look through.

This is where YOU come in.

I have this idea that I’ve been kicking around for a while now.

I’d try to explain it, but why use words when a picture says so much?

Get it? No? How about now…

Still nothing?

Ok, ok, you and I both know that I could make buttons ALL DAY.

Here’s the concept. Every Monday we start the week off RIGHT by posting something funny. It could be a link, a video, a picture, a story… WHATEVER. The point is the laughter. And the funniness. And the HA HA HA with a little HEE HEE and even maybe a HO HO HO. LOL’ing being the goal, of course.

Whaddyathink?

  1. We need what I like to call a ‘Suicide Prevention’ day – just ONE day where it’s sunny and not blustery and raining. It’s ickers in Portland too.

  2. although our weather is not too bad here in the NE, i still feel the gloom. I think it is winter in general. it just takes it toll.

i think monday and laughing is a great idea.

  3. This slit your wrist weather is getting to me also. I’m up for anything that will brighten my day.

  4. That sounds fantastic to me! I haven’t been having good luck with Mondays. Or mornings. Especially Monday mornings. I don’t know your sense of humor, but these make me laugh:
    The Problem with Panties
    Snow Monsters

I can understand why you’d feel a little down. We desperately need to get outside. But this is the view from our front window.

But I’m not sure which is better. Snowy or soggy?

  5. Oh, yes please! I’m dying here. And we have MONTHS left of this weather. Although we usually have sunshine at the end of February, dont we? I cant really remember…

  6. o0o0o I love it! Although I am not so much soggy as frozen…I still want to play!
Now if I can only find my funny…

  7. I wanna play!

  8. Oh Naners, Sounds great!

I hope it is a big huge success.

    Mwah!

    Fussy.

  9. Oh, now this means I’ll have to try and remember all the funnies long enough to draft them… and what if they’re not family appropriate? (as in I don’t want my mother in law to know everything that goes on in my house! ;) can I post them in your comments instead? :)

  10. I love that idea. I always need a laugh on Monday.

  11. I feel your pain. I hate this time of year in Seattle! I was just reading the weather on Komo and it says we have had SIX sunny days since late October! No wonder we feel down! That is depressing!

PS: Hi Jenny–I know I never comment, but I love reading your blog!

  12. I’d love a little soggy weather right about now. I am still stuck in the damn deep freeze up here, and today I drove my car into a snow bank for the FOURTH time this winter.

Soggy sounds a whole lot easier to drive around in…

  13. Great idea! Thank God it was warm enough to send the kids out today. I don’t think I can take 8 more weeks of kids inside. I’m losing the three marbles left inside my head.

  14. Oh oh oh! Count me in! I can’t think of a better way to start the week, and can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

  15. Seattle is like Vancouver..hence my need for a vacation.

It is windy and slushy here today.

Go read my blogs for a laugh..or to just laugh at me.

  16. I think that’s a great idea. Who couldn’t use a laugh on Monday — any day, but especially on Monday.

We had a bout of those “soggy” days in South Texas for almost two weeks straight recently. I commented to my colleagues: “Now I know how people in Seattle feel.”

  17. Great idea! I’m feeling a little soggy too. This snow just won’t melt! It’s all icy and brown and icky.

  18. I’m feeling a little cold. It was 58 today.

    58! That should illegal…

  19. I love the idea.. I will try to play :)

  20. I there….it’s definitely something I need to get me started on the right track for the week!!

  21. First, I think you seriously need some CHOCOLATE!! Then, we can get down to business. Okay, got some chocolate? Now everything’s got more potential to be a laugh riot.

As for buttons, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE choose the one with the laughing ass [using the word only in its zoological sense, of course] on it. I might add a tag line about laughing my a** off, but I don’t want to be offensive.

I’ll totally play along on this one. I could use a whole lotta’ blog surfin’ for laughter any old day.

  22. I’m in! Ohio in February is not all that tropical either. In fact, maybe I’ll just start today … can we have one for Fridays too?
