Weekly Roundup

January 6, 2008 – 7:28 am

One of my blogging resolutions for this year is to be more consistent about linking to good stuff that I find online. It’s so often the case that I read something that moves me… whether to laughter, or tears, or even the urge to THROW UP… and then I promptly move along and forget about it. Well, no longer!

So, on a mostly weekly basis, I’ll be posting a weekly Roundup of articles and blog posts and other stuff that I think is worth sharing.

And oh, by the way, if you run across something that you think I should feature, let me know, won’t you? I’ll give you props if I use it!

And so, I am pleased to introduce the Bananas Weekly Roundup!

Blog posts that you should read…

This story is crazy. Seriously. WHY do we pay doctors so much money again?

I’ve bookmarked this excellent list of book recommendations. It should keep me busy for a good part of the year.

I like this post about how to make New Year’s resolutions that you can actually keep. Maybe I’ll try it… next year.

This is FUN…

Have you JibJabbed your friends and family members yet? It’s highly entertaining… but also addictive. You’ve been warned.

Photoshopping celebrity’s heads onto regular people’s bodies. What’s not to love?

And speaking of Photoshop, I love this comic (thanks, Stephanie, for sending it to me!)

If only I had some extra spending money…

I keep reading reviews that make me believe that THIS is a must-have. Unfortunately, at $125 an ounce, it’s just not gonna happen.

I love this velvet coat! And it’s 50% off! But WHERE would I wear it?

Ah!! I love all roundups for some reason!! Great addition and great material to keep me occupied at the ungodly hours of night I am now flirting with. :)

OK, I really thought that the $125-per-ounce stuff was called “Lamer”. I thought, “Why would anyone spend THAT kind of money on a practical joke?”

I really should stop reading blogs before I have coffee in the mornings. *sigh*

Good link to Y, though. I’ve been following her story, and it IS crazy.

Don’t feel too bad about the La Mer.
I have a GREAT book (Don’t go to the makeup counter without me) that is written by a woman who takes thousands of products and analyzes them based on their ingredients.

Basically, she tells you if what they claim (Stronger, shinier, reducing, etc.) can happen with what they actually put in the product.

She also dispells things like “They must use better ingrediants” (Nah. The basics of these things are all exactly the same) etc.

Every product I’ve purchased after reading it has been dead accurate.

She HATES companies that mismarket or put most of the cost of the product into marketing and packaging.

Her most hated of them all is La Mere. She thinks it is horrifying that they get away with charging that much for something that could be purchased for 20.00.

So? Worry not. I really don’t think you’re missing out.

I believe this is now called “Faux-to Shop”. I have GOT to get a new computer so I can try my hand at it!

I constantly here about this Creme De La Mar also. Even if I had the money I think I would feel horribly guilty doing this.
