Hot Mamas Know: Party Glam Edition!!

Welcome to this special holiday edition of Hot Mamas Know! Where real women share their best secrets for looking and feeling our finest. (catch up on the full details here)

Here’s my tip for December…

An Easy Updo

Every woman needs a party ‘do… something sassy, different, and (hopefully) easy.

This is mine.

1) Start with clean, brushed hair. Ok, it doesn’t actually have to be THAT clean. But it shouldn’t be greasy.

2) Pull back the top portion as if you were going to put it in a beret. Twist it in a circle around your finger and secure with a bobby pin.

(that’s a bobby pin in my mouth, FYI)So it’ll look like this in the front…

(it’s ok if some parts are sticking up. Unless you’re not the kind of person who wears your hair sticking up… and if that’s the case, this may not be the ‘do for you!)

And like this in the back…

OH the twisting and bending that was involved in getting these pictures!

3) Twist and pull the bottom part (the rest of the hair) using bobby pins to stick it up in a bottom part of the bun.So we have the front:

The back:

The front AND the back (witness the master self-photographer at work!)

And that’s it! Slap in a sparkly beret or two, spritz with hairspray, and you’re good to go!

Now I want to hear YOUR tips & tricks! Write your own Hot Mamas Know PARTY GLAM post on your blog, and then come back and add a link to it here using the fields below. (get code for the graphic and more details on entering this event here)

IMPORTANT! Don’t type your name in the box where it says “name.” Instead, type a short summary of your post. (I did the first one as an example lest you be confused).

One more thing: links that do not go directly to a Hot Mamas Know post on your blog will be deleted, quickly and with feeling. There, you’ve been warned.

For next month…

I’m thinking January 1st may not be the best day for this. So how about we switch it up and post on the 1st Monday (which is actually the 7th) instead?

  5. I wish I had your hair. So silky. So shiny. So unlike my frazzled mess that looks like something pulled out of the shower drain.

  6. Okay, I think I’m still too dumb to figure this out. Yes, I’m hair challenged.

Maybe you’ll wear it this way when I see you tonight?

  7. Yes but do you have an up-do for a gal with ultra thick, coarse, half curly hair? Because I need a gazillion bobby pins.

I SO wanted to do the Hot Mama thing this month. My kids and their birthdays get in the way of my blogging plans. Gesh. Always cramping my style.

  8. Glam? I swear I never get glam. Wish I did.
I love the hair tip. My curly hair looks good that way. I wore it the Absolutely Bannas way today!
Sorry I missed the Hot Mamas this month. I’n so happy you like my shout-out to you.
You are not only Absolutely Bananas, you are Absolutely Fabulous!

  9. My hair is curly and heavy but can totally do that. Problem is, I too need more details. I got the twist around your finger thing, but then where do I put the bobby pins?

I’ve never done bobby pins before.

And, yeah, I live with half of my hair poking up like that. I just usually use a stupid clip, so I want to do this!

  10. This is a great idea!

  11. Sorry Jenny, I’m late and then I goofed… delete #7

Also, where do you put the bobby pin? I can never get anything to stay with just one, so I’m wondering if there is a secret to the direction or something

  12. I got nothin’, but yous got skillz. I’m going to have to remember this post for later… :)

  13. Hope the tip on chapped lips, come in handy! Happy holidays!!
