Hot Mamas Know; Lips o’ Butter
November 8, 2007 – 4:01 amWelcome to the first ever episode of Hot Mamas Know! Where real women share their best secrets for looking and feeling our finest. (catch up on the full details here)
Here’s my tip of the month…
Lips o’ butter
A friend and I were in Munich several years ago, walking down the street, when we passed by a drug store. My friend (literally) shrieked and jumped 5 feet in the air.
“Labello!” she screamed.
My friend is always amusing to travel with, but I couldn’t imagine what could be so scream-worthy. Whatever it was, it had to be GOOD.
“Huh?” I asked.
“Labello! The BEST CHAPSTICK EVER!! We must get some!”
Chapstick? Seriously?
Now I enjoy soft lips as much as the next gal. But come on, what’s there to get all hot and bothered about when it comes to chapstick?
And then I met Labello. And was promptly and whole-heartedly addicted to that little blue tube.Soft… smooth… creamy. No waxy finish like the American brands. No oddly sweet flavors. Just pure, dreamy, lip-smackin’ velvety goodness. My lips crave it. Seriously.
Which posed a problem when my blue tube o’ delights ran out, because you can’t GET Labello in the US. And so, like a junky, I found myself begging and pleading with everyone I know who’s visiting Europe, knows someone who’s visiting Europe, or knows someone who knows someone who’s visiting Europe. “Can you pleeeeeease pick me up some Labello?” I wheedle and whine. It’s pathetic, seriously.
Until now! I recently learned that you can get Labello this side of the Atlantic at this site. It’s rather expensive ($15 with shipping), but it’s soooo worth it.
Oh, and if you’re in Europe? You TOTALLY have to get me some.
Now I want to hear YOUR tips & tricks! Write your own Hot Mamas Know post on your blog, and then come back and add a link to it here using the fields below. (get code for the graphic and more details on entering this event here)
IMPORTANT! Don’t type your name in the box where it says “name.” Instead, type a short summary of your post. (I did the first one as an example lest you be confused).
One more thing: links that do not go directly to a Hot Mamas Know post on your blog will be deleted, quickly and with feeling. There, you’ve been warned.

For next month…
Get ready for our next edition on Dec 1st. In honor of the biggest party month of the year, we’ll be doing a EXTRA SPECIAL Hot Mamas Know PARTY GLAMOUR edition, where we share our party prep secrets!

No Labello in the US? That’s just wrong. You know you don’t have to go as far as Europe - we have it here (Canada). And you’re right - it is spectacular.

Jenny - Send me your address and I’ll send you some. The slightly tinted pink one is my favourite!!! You can get a three pack of the blue one for about $5 here! ;-) There’s also a yellow one for the sun (added SPF) and a green one for skiing. Great stuff!

Got here from Moosh.
It has already been said but you can get Labello up here in Canada and it comes in a few choices now also.
You are right, it is the best.
I have used it for about 20 years and the blue tube is still my favorite. Now I have to go back and read more tips.

Timeless tip.. hmm. How about the ice-cube on hand to cure headaches one? That always goes over well during the holiday season. Place cube on web between thumb and index finger, hold as long as bearable.
Gad, I miss Seattle :)

HAHA! I always bought that stuff when I lived in Europe. I’d forgotten about it, though! (I always ask people to bring back Lion Bars for me– apparently we have different addictions, you and I. Hahahah)

Hey lady,
I am so bummed. I could have contributed to this one. (Worked at a skin care company for years and found a really awesome trick that helps make skin look awesome.) But am too late. Is it too, too late to contribute? If it is, that’s ok.
