This weekend, my sister bought CJ a magic wand.
Now he walks around the house, pointing it at things and hoping for something to happen.
“Mom,” he says to me, “What’s that word you say again? the magic word?”
“Abracadabra.” I tell him.
He points the wand at me, gives it a wiggle, and says dramatically, “Aber-a-da-cabra! Disappear!”
A long second goes by, and I’m still here.
CJ frowns. “But mom, I want it to do magic! Can you make it do magic?”
“No, sorry honey.” I shake my head… I can’t believe I’m admitting that I can’t do magic!
We eat dinner, and it’s almost time for CJ to go to bed. Jay is waving the magic wand with aplomb. “Ka-ching!” he shouts, pointing it at CJ. “You’re a dog!”
“Ka-ching!” he points it at me, “I’m turning you to GOOD.”
“Oh great.” I say wryly. “And by the way, you don’t say Ka-CHING, you say Abracadabra.”
“Oh no,” Jay informs me, “I say ka-ching.”
CJ takes the magic wand. “I want to try it.”
He waves it in a circle just as Jay announces, “it’s time for bed.”
And, as if by magic, CJ disappears.
From the living room we can hear him saying, ever-so-quietly, “ka-ching!”

I hope you don’t mind some crazy Canadian stranger adoring your son from afar.
And…ummm…you’re pretty nice yourself.

That is so cute.

Off topic. I just wrote two posts about what’s been going on the last 24 hours. If you have a chance you might want to flit. They are not funny posts. They’re about 18 yo ending up and the hospital and my feelings. The first post is all emotio9n, the second, my brain kicked in more.

How nice that he wanted you to disappear. Kids can be so darn sweet sometimes.

If I say Ka-ching do you suppose my toddler will magically resume her sleeping schedule and stop staying up until ungodly hours and waking early in the morning? I’m going to try it tonight because I’m just that desperate.

Next time he tries to make you disapppear act like HE disappeared. Say, “where did you go? I think it backfired. Hello? Hello?” He’ll get a kick out of it!
August 30, 2007 at 9:02 am
Oh lord, that’s cute.

That’s so sweet…he wants his mommy to disappear. He’d panic if you really did though.

Hey – this is cousin Amy – is it the kind of wand that lights up and makes a sound when you push its button? If so, AC has the same wand!! He loves it!!

How cute is that. Loved that stage of my boys lives.

I must have this wand!

Our sons would be great friends. He still has a hard time with his cape not really making him fly-and why can’t I fix it?! His sister rules in the wand department-so it’s not abracadabra or ka-ching, it’s bibbidy-bobbidy-boo.

Too funny! And now I’ve got that Cars song stuck in hy head…
August 31, 2007 at 9:17 am
Hey, I prefer Ka-ching to Abracadabra, too. Magic scares me a little, but money? I can handle that.

Everyone needs a magic wand. :) I have a wand pen I picked up at Hot Topic to celebrate the final Harry Potter novel.
Never give up on magic. We all need some now and then.
