Nerd love is lasting love

Eleven or so years ago I met Jay. It went something like this:
Young Jenny: Hi, I’m Young Jenny.
Jay: Hi, I’m Jay. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I’m an older man. Eight years older than you, in fact.
Young Jenny: (sort of swoons) Well hello.
Jay: I should probably tell you that the reason I wear my hair cut short is because I’m losing it. Hope you don’t mind.
Young Jenny: No problem! Fine by me! You’re older, right?
Jay: Yes ma’am, I’m oh-so-much older.
(they kiss)
Young Jenny: Soooo… what are you into?
Jay: WELL, I’m glad you asked. I’m an artist, FYI.
Young Jenny: An artist?! Kiss me again.
(they kiss)
Jay: Also I enjoy long walks on the beach, getting caught in the rain, and oh yeah Piña Coladas.
Young Jenny: (squeals) Like the SONG?! Ooooohhh!!!
Jay: Wanna get married?
Young Jenny: You mean, like with a ring and everything? Well, duh!
And the rest, as they say, is history.
With a beginning like this, who wouldn’t expect the marriage to last TEN YEARS?
The count-down to our big anniversary (Aug 15!) has begun, and I promise we’re in for an exciting ride. If you need it, you’ll find a vomit bag in the seat back in front of you.

Aw, how cute are you two? I also have a nerd named Jay. And I won’t be using my vomit bag - I think it’s refreshing to read these sweet posts what with all of the jaded bitching about marriage I read. Not that it’s not warranted at times…
