Blopping the night away

This weekend we drove up to the in-laws for a bit o’ crabbing followed by the necessary gorging (OH the melted butter!) and socializing. Well, at least what socializing you could get in amidst the CRACK CRACK! SLUUUURP Munch munch munch SNORT…

This is the good life.

Well, except for the THIEVING VERY BAD NO GOOD DOWNRIGHT NASTY robbers who STOLE the crabs from our crab pots in the middle of a sunny afternoon.

And the VERY HORRID SUPER NAUGHTY EXTREMELY ANNOYING propane tank, which decided NOT to work as we attempted to boil the crab from the previous day’s haul.

But we remained unruffled and undeterred. Ok, so dinner was three hours late. But still we feasted like kings. And that’s all that matters in the end.

At some point during the evening, my dear father-in-law said to me, “So Jenny, how’s the blopping going?”

“Blopping?” It took me a minute. Maybe it was the drug-like haze of too much crab and garlic bread that was causing the synapses to misfire in my brain. “Did you say blopping?”

And then the bells went off and I GOT it. Ding Ding Ding! OH, BLOPPING!

I tried not to laugh. But as you may have noticed, I do a lot of trying and even more laughing. A little grin snuck through before I could stop it, followed by a very small giggle.

The blopping is going great. Really. I love blopping. Almost as much as I love fresh crab.

  1. “Almost as much as I love fresh crab.”

i was hoping you weren’t going to say “fresh craP!” LOL

So funny. And I’m right there with ya with chowing down. Sounds SO yummy!

    xoxo

  2. It’s so nice that he asked!

  3. Blopping … LOL! That’s like Sweet Boy asking me about my “blob.”

This post is making me hungry!

  4. I am a blobber, not a blopper. I love my blob too, tulipmom.

  5. That’s hilarious.

  6. haha! Too funny. I love me some crab…that reminds me I haven’t had any this summer…

  7. That’s hilarious, and I can relate. It only took 7 (that’s SEVEN) phone calls in one day to get my grandmother logged on to my blog…. and a phone call every morning for a few weeks thereafter to remember how to access her favorites.

She wanted to check it even when I told her I hadn’t written anything new since the previous morning. She kept insisting that “something new might be there” and she might miss it.

Don’t get me wrong — I love her dearly and love that she reads my blog so faithfully… but there for awhile I was regretting even telling her about it!

  8. LOL – oh that’s too darn funny! Although, it’s great that he’s interested. My parents wouldn’t know a blog from a blop from a flying saucer – my mom doesn’t have a computer and I practically have to show my dad how to check his e-mail every time I see him… ;)

  9. lol!!

but, it was actually pretty sweet that he asked! :)

  10. A smile in the morning is always a welcome gift from Absolutely Bananas. I love this story. I just want to hug the guy.

  11. How sweet of him to even ask! By the way, I love your Blop!

  12. LOL! Blopping is fantastic fun!

  13. I love to blop too. We should start like a Blopping Club or something.

  14. That’s so funny! I’ve also been asked about my Blob lol!

  15. My Baba always calls everything related to internet – blogs, websites, flickr – “e-mail.” HAHA! She just doesn’t get it.

  16. I can’t eat crab in public. I get too cannibalistic. Kind of like Darryl Hannah in Splash when Tom Hanks ordered the lobster.

  17. Oh, for the love of melted butter!

    And of course, blopping rules!

    Carrie

  18. Hahaha! That is funny, plus I can relate. My MIL always reads my weblog, but when I refer to it as weblog a big question mark rises from her head.

  19. The crabbing and feasting sounds like great fun. That’s just not something we’ll do here in Ohio.

Blopping. Hmm…maybe a new catch word?

  20. “Blopping”? That’s adorable. I probably would have thought he was asking me about my pooping habits but that’s still about the cutest thing ever.

  21. My uninitiated family and friends don’t even attempt to remember the proper lingo, and refer to blogging in general, more known terms. “How’s the writing/web site/onling thingy going?”

  22. Too cute!

  23. heehee! That is priceless!

I’m totally jealous that you had crabs for dinner… I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay and man to I miss them. Butter, oh how I love thee… I’m getting a butter high just thinking about it!

  24. Ahh that made me giggle.

While you’re blopping I’m ‘logging’ according to my dad.

Atleast we’re not bogging. That could get messy.

  25. ROFL.

    That is too cute!

And I’m insanely jealous of all that crab. Therefore I am getting in my car and plan on being there within the next week ;-) I’ll even bring butter!

  26. (Cindy Lauper is now ringing in my head….”You Blop”)

LOL….too cute! It is nice that he asked.

Oh, I love crab. I love snow crab the most tho…yum.

    I’m a blopper, you’re a blopper, wouldn’t ya want to be a blopper, too!

  27. Blopping? I think that’s the sound my butt makes whenever I plop it onto a leather seat. Yeah, it definitely blops.

    Happy crabbing!

  28. heehee. At least he asked about it. :D

  29. I used to go crabbing with a friend of mine whenever we visited her grandparents down in Port Arthur, Texas.

Yum. Crab dipped in butter. And BBQ’d crab — incredible!

As for “blopping” — I will confess that when I saw the title of your post, I thought maybe there was some sort of carnal act with which I was unfamiliar.

  30. I’m impressed he asked about it even if he did call it “blopping”. I don’t think my extended family knows what a blog is.

  31. That’s awesome!!!! I like blopping, too!

  32. Too damn funny!
