There’s no place like home

July 30, 2007 – 2:46 pm

After some mad clicking together of my ruby slippers while chanting There’s no place like home There’s no place like home, I’m finally here.

And being the terrible, selfish mother that I am, I demanded that Jay and CJ meet me at the airport. I’m not going to tell you what time it was, but I will tell you that it was SEVERAL hours past CJ’s bed time. But you know what? I don’t care.

Seeing my little boy and feeling his arms around my neck and his kisses on my cheek made me feel whole again.

He completes me. (queue cheesy music)

As does my cup of coffee, my comfy jammies that I’d never wear to the W, and my lovely husband who somehow always smells like clean laundry. It’s good to be home… and it’s good that it’s good to be home, if you know what I mean.

It’s a good thing.

BREAKING ALERT: This post has turned into a shameless exercise in seeing how many cheesy quotes I can use.

that’s hot.

Can you recognize them all? Can you identify the sayers? Go ahead, make my day.

In the next week or month or quarter or century I will post a seriously helpful overview of the things I learned at BlogHer, boiled down and perfectly summarized to help you achieve all your blogging dreams. But not yet. I still need to let it percolate for a bit. In the meantime, check out this summary from Surrender, Dorothy. I was there and I learned stuff by reading it!

And now I’m going to dwell on the goodness that is home.

I looked everywhere for you! It seemed I was always just missing you. The story of my life! It would have helped if I knew what you looked like. I probably stood right next to you. I’m a dork like that.

What about those quotes, people?? Is this it?

-no place like home — Dorothy, Wizard of Oz
-he completes me — Jerry Maguire (I know they say “you complete me”, not sure about “he”)
-it’s a good thing — Martha! Every day all the time!!
    -that’s hot — hmmmm, Next Top Model?? I don’t know! I’m stumped!
-make my day — Clint, Dirty Harry (is that the right movie?)

I couldn’t agree more about being home and getting those kisses.

I truly enjoyed every moment we got to spend together. I hope I didn’t stalk you too much.

Readers, you will not be surprised to know that she is as much a kind, warm and comfortable person in real life as she is online.

    Enjoy the jammies!

Wendy, that’s hot is the signature phrase of Paris Hilton. But since she is not actually a talented person like Clint, it’s no wonder that you didn’t know it. I only know it because I read sleazy tabloids in line at the grocery store and when I get my hair done.

Oh I know that feeling so well, the comfort of home is like the comfort of cliches…. or something.

I have no idea when we met, but I’ve got your card, so we had to right? I’m glad we did, and I’m in trouble because I don’t focus either. Oh well.
