Makeover Monday: Conspiracy Theory

June 12, 2007 – 5:23 am

  1. Buy tickets to Chicago for BlogHer. CHECK

  2. Buy tickets to Chicago for BlogHer with flights on the correct days. (…OOPS!)
  3. Change tickets to Chicago for BlogHer to be on the correct days. CHECK
  4. Check blog metrics. CHECK
  5. Somehow scare off half my subscribers. CHECK
  6. Figure out WHY I scared off half my subscribers (still working on it.)

  7. Come up with theories as to what I might have done to scare off half my subscribers. (… see below)

Theory 1: people don’t like bloggers who kill squirrels. Even if it was on accident.

Theory 2: people don’t like bloggers who BLOG ABOUT killing squirrels. Especially in a birthday party post.

Theory 3: people don’t like bloggers who bash Oriental Trading Company.

Theory 4: people don’t like bloggers who’d even CONSIDER shopping at Oriental Trading Company.

Theory 5: people don’t like posts that go on and on and on… and then when you think they might be done, they just keep going

Theory 6: people found out that I’m NOT in fact Wonder Woman, Angelina Jolie, or the President, but in fact I just photoshopped my head onto those assorted bodies.

Any guesses? theories? I’d welcome your thoughts on the topic… And finally…

  8. Makeover Monday post. CHECK (slid it in at the last minute, didn’t I?!)

Coming to terms with reality… it’s not easy!

Oh, well, see, now that I’ve read your list of reasons not to read you anymore, you’ve convinced me to go away now…

Or, perhaps you could think of it like this: My life is in absolute, total, ridiculous CHAOS right this very moment, and yet here I am reading and commenting on your blog…

THAT’S how much I adore you.

Theory #7 it’s the hell known as summer vacation for lots of moms and they are trying to save their insanity by keeping the kids busy?

I still read every single post, primate shooting and all! I just subscribe in google.

I love ya! I don’t know what the other crazies are thinking!

My husband works in the internet industry and was just commenting this weekend how traffic in general has gone WAY down–and will probably stay that way for a while. Guess people are enjoying nice weather (although not around here last week!) and busy with kids home! I know I haven’t ever commented but I read your blog daily!! We have to catch up soon!!

I like theory #7. Summer break explains so much, right?

LOL! Like how you squeezed MM in there.

I vote for theory # 7 as well, with all squirrel-related theories coming in close second.

Dude, people actually like Oriental Trading Company (besides my son who loves the catalog)?

I have been meaning to check out your blog forever. We move in the same circles and I knew I was missing something good.

    Damn it, I was.

No longer! Added you to Google Reader. Wanna know why? Other than wanting to be cool like everyone else, I love the fact that you analyze your reader numbers.

I swear to myself every night that I won’t check my subscriber count the next day. Then I do. Then I wonder, “Hey, why did x# of people drop me?!”

    Ugh.

Now I’ve got to catch up on all the fun stuff I’ve been missing over here. Ooh yeah, and add you to my Makeover Monday blogroll!
