My sure-fire recipe for a perfect afternoon

May 11, 2007 – 2:48 pm

Try this recipe when you’re ready for a break, have family in town, or just want to make sure that your afternoon is top-notch.

Start by mixing together the following ingredients (do not over-stir):

  • Ample amounts of Sunshine (no substitution will suffice)
  • Heavy sprinkling of blue skies
  • A handful of fluffy white clouds

Next, stir in the following, to taste:

  • sandy beach (Golden Gardens brand works well)
  • 6-8 boats (sailboats, freighters, fishing boats- whichever you prefer)
  • 3 kites
  • A few gulls (be careful not to add too many; they can be overpowering)
  • A dozen or so children (again, keep quantities limited)

Bake at comfortable temperatures, approximately 67 degrees, until warm and content.

For extra fun, add:

  • a smattering of seashells
  • assorted buckets, shovels, and other beach toys
  • sunglasses, sunscreen, and a good book.

And, enjoy! This recipe is a sure winner… make plenty, cause everyone always wants more!
