We’ve got the beat!
April 6, 2007 – 12:49 amSome people say stay-at-home mom’s have it easy. Clearly those people are idiots. But it’s true, every once in a while we do get a reprieve. My afternoon was one of those once-in-a-while’s.
It started out with a leisurely play-date after preschool. Sittin’ outside on the porch while the boys play in the sandbox… not too bad. I have 5 months of sun-free living to compensate for… soak it in baby, soak it in.
Back home to sit outside and blow bubbles. Birds are chirping, bees are buzzing, somewhere a lawnmower is going… our feet our bare, our legs are soapy, and we are loving life.
Back inside to start dinner… CJ hops in the bath. After bath time we turn on the music, and GET DOWN TONIGHT. The music is blaring (I can’t be bothered with the neighbors, I’m groovin’!)
Billy Jean… is not my lover… she’s just just a girl who thinks I am the one… (ooh!)
CJ is literally down on the floor spinning — where did that boy learn to break dance?! And my moves… well, let’s just say its a good thing there was no one around to witness the horror.
… Play that funky music, white boy. Play that funky music RI-IGHT… play that funky music, white boy… lay down the boogie and play that funky music till you die…
We sit down to a leisurely dinner, but wait - the dancing can’t end here… it’s Ricky Martin!
OUTSIDE INSIDE OUT… LIVIN’ THE VIDA LOCA!
…then we eat our roasted red pepper and tomato gnocchi, still rockin’ to the rhythm, and finish off with a couple of bright blue NON organic Peeps.
Yeah baby, this is LIVING.
I guess I’ve revealed the TRUTH about my rather horrifying taste in music. But I don’t care, because…
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah NAH We’ve got the BEAT!

Sounds like a terrific day!
I see nothing wrong in your music tastes. Why didn’t you include these gems on your music meme a few weeks back?!

Yay! The dancing and selection of music sounds like our house on many occasions. Our Peanut sometimes looks at me and the hubby like we are nuts, but she is starting to join in on the dancing at times.
Came by way of needsnewbatteries. :-)

My wife is a stay-at-home mom who home-schools our child. I’ll be sure tell her to come here.
Cheers!

You must go on to teach how to Roger Rabbit and Cabbage Patch. Make me proud…

Oh I would totally be dancing with you! I LOVE all of those songs. Oh, and can I stay for dinner because that sounded really yummy and I am a simple cook.
Great post!
