Operation Distract Mommy

True story (I don’t think I could make this up if I tried):

I am *trying* to get CJ into his PJs, teeth brushed, and to bed.

“CJ,” I tell him, “It’s 20 minutes past your bedtime. We MUST get your jammies on.”

He bats his eyes (you should know, this kid has ridiculously long eyelashes) and looks sweetly up at me, gently patting my cheek.

“Mom?” he pauses, and I can see the wheels turning in that devious little mind of his. “Your majesty

He smiles sweetly as I explode with laughter.

Operation Distract Mommy is successfully under way.

  1. No way! How funny!

My Peanut has just learned some of these techniques. She does the eye batting and gives me a big hug and says, “Hold me.” She’s not a cuddler so she knows I’m hooked after that.

  2. Our bedtime routine has me getting him ready and reading him stories, then my wife will sing a song and stay with him till he goes to sleep. He will try to extend his awake time by asking all sorts of questions: “What happens if I fall into a hole” “What happens if the car falls into a hole” “If daddy dies, will we put him in the recycling or the trash?” “If daddy dies, will we give his bones to a dog to chew on?”

  3. I would have died laughing, too.

  4. Loved this story! CJ sounds like he knows what he is doing. :-)

  5. That’s priceless!

  6. Oooh! Nice title! I want one!!

  7. They are too smart!
Adam stands at attention and yells SIR YESSIR!

He also tells me that the reason he needs mommy snuggles at night and likes to shower with me is that I am sooo beautiful.

My dh needs to take lessons!
