5AM this morning. Jay and I are sawing logs in the last couple of hours before dawn.
The house is dark and then… the squeak of bare feet on the hardwood floor followed by soft, quick footsteps padding across the hallway and into our bedroom.
I slowly wake to warm breath on my cheek.
“Mom?” CJ’s urgent whisper hurtles me into awareness. Does he need to go to the bathroom? Is he sick again? What time is it anyway?
“Mom? I want you to play rocket with me.”
This is what happens to FUN moms. Their kids want to play with them. ALL THE TIME. You’d think I’d have learned by now.

Uh oh, being good backfired! Go back to your terrible mothering ways, you’ll get more sleep that way :)!

geez, I guess I am the most fun mom of all time because I can’t get 5 seconds to myself to even pee alone. Ha! Lately I think my son is getting bored of me though. He’s always asking for “dada”.
