A presidential case of writer’s block
April 19, 2007 – 7:15 pmProbably because I got awarded that Thinking Blogger award, I am having a major brain funk.
Here’s how it works: I try to think of something witty, funny, interesting, or inspirational to write, and… Nothing. So, I try to think of SOMETHING, anything, to write, and… NOTHING.
My mind is a giant void. It’s a scary thing for a blogger-chick who typically lives her life with a running mental narrative… “ooh! I can blog about that,” “oh, that’ll be a great post!” “wow, can’t wait to get home and blog about this…”
This week, if you could hear inside my head, rather than the witty banter that you might typically hear, there’s just a giant HUMMMMMM.
Scary. Well, at least now I know how our president feels.

Well I guess there’s no hope for me then, I find myself with the same issue and I started blogging, oh all of a week ago!
Love that last line ;)

Hi Jenny,
This is my first trip to your blog; I’am having a good time !
Thank you for stopping over at my blog. You are welcome any time.
I’am a new blogger ( from last Nov), and I don’t always find inspiration very easy, either.
We all try are best.
Congrats for your nomination, too :)!

I’m so glad I am not the only person who mentally sizes up every experience I have on whether it would make a good blog post!! LOL!

In my mind, Bush hears the sound of a toy choo choo train all day long and is pleased. So don’t debase yourself and put yourself in a category with him!
Glad to know I am not the only one who gets stuck sometimes!

I have those days, too. Usually I either make post a list of some sort or I make up a conversation with a celebrity that never actually happened.
Lying is the best cure for writers block.

That’s why I have a bunch of unpublished posts. They all suck, but at least I have something when there’s nothing in my brain.

Everything in my universe boils down to, “Hmmm, could I blog about that?” Or, “how could I make that seem funny” or “how can I make that more poignant.” And, of course, we all have our days of, “HOLY CRAP, WHAT AM I GOING TO SAY TODAY???” As though I’m letting down my massive audience of, oh, 12 or so, by not being amazing every single day.
And see? You managed to turn not-knowing-what-to-say into a great post! THAT takes genius.
