Motherhood, Unplucked
March 6, 2007 – 6:40 amLast night I was getting ready for a rousing night of Texas Hold’em with some girlfriends. I leaned in very, very close to the mirror, scrutinizing every pore and blemish in a way that I haven’t done in quite some time when… I saw them (roll scary music)… hundreds of tiny hairs filling in the arches of my eyebrows.
And I realized — it had been TWO MONTHS since I plucked my eyebrows. Gasp. While I haven’t yet stooped to daily sweat pant wearing, clearly I am becoming a candidate for What Not to Wear.
This I did not expect.
Obviously it can’t be a problem of not enough time (although… where DOES the time go?) I think ultimately it’s more of a motivation issue. Why bother? Luckily I have girls’ night out to shame me back into some semblance of presentability.
So, as my civic duty (providing honest and unbiased reporting for anyone out there who might be contemplating a similar move to mine)… I have discovered a downside to the whole quit-your-job-stay-at-home thing.
Welcome to motherhood unplucked. It’s a happy… but hairy… place.
