I hate spring

I know it’s un-American, un-environmentalist, or un-acceptable in every way… but there you have it. I’m outed. I’m a verifiable, complete and total, 100% spring hater.

Oh sure, I like the sun. Tulips and daffodils? I’ll admit they’re pretty. And yes, the promise of summer is pretty darn alluring.

But if you could see me right now… sitting here at my computer, hardly able to see through puffy, red, tear-streaked eyes, you’d understand. No, I didn’t lose another battle of the wills with my darling son. No, I didn’t just learn that I had to have my entire house clean by tomorrow afternoon (as IF).

You know those puffy, fluffy, pink, cotton-candyish trees that adorn the streets this time of the year? SOME people say they’re lovely. I say they should all be chopped down. In fact, every March I’m tempted to sneak out in the middle of the night with an axe and do the dirty work myself.

Allergies, Watson. They’re enough to turn any sane woman into a raving lunatic. And I was hardly sane to begin with.

And I’m not kidding… I AM tempted to chop down those nasty trees under cover of night. I guess I must be afraid of being caught. Or maybe I’m not so un-american afterall. At any rate… another year and the horrid cherry trees still stand. Me, on the other hand? Hardly standing. Between the sneezing, snorting, and swelling, I’m barely human!

And, speaking of spring, don’t forget to check out my latest post in the P-I!

  1. I read your P-I post, and the most distrubing thing (there were many points) is that these items are selling out?!?!? How can that be?

I have seasonal allergies, too, and I feel, for ya!

  2. I love spring, but my son hates it. He has allergies too. His eyes are bloodshot from March until May and from September until it gets really cold. I know what he goes through so I can sympathize with you.

  3. I like spring, but I don’t have too severe allergies.

Just read your “10 things you should know” and I’m right with you on how pathetic it is to enjoy getting comments so much. I feel the exact same way. It’s sad, really, really sad. I must find new ego boosting activities!

  4. Yeah, I’m looking forward to the streaming nose, too. I don’t get it so early (my sympathies) and it’s not a full-on head-bust – but, the itchy nose and the scratchy throat? Pur-lease!

And, liking the site, Jenny. Cool masthead. And it’s so cosy over here. I’ve gotta be honest, you write great stuff over at Magnum PI, but commenting gives me the heebie-jeebies.

And write a darn verse to Man Gave Names To All The Animals will ya! You’re a shoo-in to win because there ain’t nobody else playing. (Me, wiping away a tear, being all stoic.)
